The season was right and the ground fertile for great innovation in music and art. The residents of Haight Ashbury were coming into their own as a community of innovative thinkers, committed bohemians and psychedelic pioneers. Make no mistake about it, the Haight in 1966 was still pure and idealistic with unlimited possibilities. This was the authentic movement, before the scene was discovered by the media and inundated by runaways and mindless bandwagon jumpers.
