SCP Auctions is proud to announce the inclusion of a Johnny Unitas 1960’s Baltimore Colts game worn helmet that originates directly from the Unitas family and is described in an accompanying letter of provenance from John Unitas Jr. as “the most significant piece of memorabilia from the Unitas family collection.” The letter also asserts that this helmet has remained in the family’s sole custody since Johnny Unitas last wore it. Few objects in the realm of football memorabilia could inspire more awe than a helmet worn by Johnny U in the field of battle, and no such object could come with a finer pedigree that the one we present here as part of our April Internet Auction.

SCP Auctions A fleet-footed slap hitter who perennially topped the .300-mark, Patsy Donovan entered the Deadball Era having already established himself as one of the game's most consistent stars. After his days as a regular player wound down, Donovan went on to leave an indelible mark on the new century as a much-traveled manager and longtime scout. One sportswriter called him an "excellent judge of the ball player in the raw." Indeed, Donovan's greatest accomplishment may have come in 1914 when he convinced the Boston Red Sox to sign a talented young left-hander named George Ruth.

Legendary AuctionsLegendary Auctions is proud to be able to announce a historic hobby "find!" Until recently, only six verified examples of the elusive 1948 Leaf Boxing #50 Rocky Graziano card were known to exist, with the highest-graded copy being a PSA EX 5 specimen. Two weeks ago, we received a call from a family in the Northeast who, after going through their holdings, believed that they had unearthed a new Graziano example. Admittedly, at first, we thought the prospect was unlikely. But then, a box of approximately fifty Leaf Boxing cards arrived -- including an incredibly well-preserved example of this important card. The most amazing thing is that this well-centered, colorful piece -- bearing only a hint of corner wear -- is now graded a lofty EX-MT+ 6.5 by PSA. (This is a full grade-and-a-half higher than what was previously the highest-graded example.) Legendary Auctions is pleased to be able to bring this new hobby rarity to the market!
